Abstract

We report here the results for the total cross sections of neutrino neutral current isoscalar excitation of the 1+; T=0; 12.7 MeV level of 12C using the standard electroweak gauge theory and particle-hole wavefunctions for the level, in the energy range 16-54 MeV for the incident neutrino (antineutrino) energies. The cross sections are averaged over the neutrino (antineutrino) flux and the effects of isospin mixing from the isovector 1+; T=1; 15.1 MeV level are studied. It is pointed out that this excitation is very sensitive to the isospin mixing parameter delta and hence experimental measurements of the neutrino (antineutrino) flux-averaged isoscalar excitation cross sections can be used to determine delta .
