Abstract

We study the lepton sector in the model based on the local gauge group SU(3)(c)circle times SU(3)(L)circle times U(1)(X), which does not contain particles with exotic electric charges. The seesaw mechanism and discrete A(4) symmetry are introduced into the model to help us understand why neutrinos are especially light and have the observed pattern of neutrino mixing. The model provides a method for obtaining the tribimaximal mixing matrix in the leading order. A nonzero mixing angle V-e3 is presented in the modified mixing matrix.
