Abstract

Quark-lepton transitions can lead to a small Dirac mass for the electron neutrino and can contribute to the electron mass. This mass must be less than 10 −3 eV or else the calculated ratio Γ(π → eν)/Γ(π → μν) will be in disagreement with experiment.
