Abstract
Research into a new type of reactive dye based on the monochlorotriazine group is described. Reactive dyes of the 3‐carboxypyridino‐1,3,5‐triazine type have been investigated, with a nicotinic acid leaving group, having high stability and fixation efficiency. Dyes of this type react with cellulose in a neutral bath, so widening the scope of reactive dyeing. A classification scheme for reactive dyes is outlined.
