Abstract

The limiting condition for the analysis of mobile species like sodium or hydrogen bearing structural units in non-conducting solids is obeyed for the NPB-SIMS method. This is demonstrated by results on concentration profiles of differently treated glass surface regions, on a model reaction on a biological glass, and on the interdiffusion of sodium and hydrogen in a binary silicate glass.
