Abstract

Objective: Neuroprotective effect of Buchnania Lanzan Leaf extract in the management of Alzheimer and anxiety disease. Material and Method: In vitro antioxidative analysis for the exploration of the antioxidative properties of Buchnania Lanzan leaf extract was done. To analysis the In vivo antioxidant property of extracts on the oxidative stress induced by the Aluminum Chloride. Albino Wistar rats were administered with AlCl3 at a dose of 4.2mg/kg/day i.p. for 4 weeks. Experimental rats were given Buchnania Lanzan Leaf extract in two different doses of 200mg and 400mg/kg/day orally 1hr before the AlCl3 administration for 4 weeks. At the end of the experiments, aluminum administration significantly decreased the level of GSH and the activities of SOD and increased the level of LPO in brain regions when compared with control rats. Later animal was sacrificed and the brain was taken out and the homogenate was prepared in Tris buffer (pH 7.4) in cold condition and taken for biochemical estimation involving Superoxide dismutase, Lipid peroxide, and Reduced Glutathione test. Results: The Aluminum Chloride cause declination in the level of glutathione, superoxide dismutase and increase in lipid peroxidation which was with the administration of Buchnania Lanzan extract significantly prevented in the brain of rat. Conclusion: Analysis of different biochemical parameters, results indicated the prophylactic action of Buchnania Lanzan extracts against Aluminum Chloride induced oxidative stress in the brain.
