Abstract
Figure-ground segregation is crucial for auditory perception in noisy environments, where the brain needs to group spectrotemporally overlapping sound objects into stable perceptual entities. The neuronal mechanisms of this process are poorly understood. Here we report figure-ground modulation (FGM) present in single-, multi-unit, as well as local field potential responses across primary core and adjacent belt areas in the macaque monkey.
