Abstract
1. Antidromic responses of a group of adjacent neurons in microareas of the cat sensorimotor cortex to stimulation of PT fibers were investigated. Microsystems containing one or several PT neurons and also microsystems in which PT neurons were absent were detected. 2. In the majority of microsystems the number of neurons not belonging to the PT substantially exceeded the number of PT neurons. 3. In microsystems containing PT neurons, neurons with a different conduction velocity along their axons could be recorded simultaneously. 4. During multineuronal recording of several simultaneously working neurons a tendency is found which consists in that PT neurons with large axon conduction velocities are recorded with a greater amplitude of the spikes.
