Abstract

This article presents a literature review of current issues in neurology and cardiac surgery in children with congenital heart disease. During the surgery the patient's brain is exposed to prolonged hypoxia, toxic influences of narcotic drugs, which in turn exacerbate the neurological complications in the postoperative period, are superimposed on existing neurological symptoms. The urgency of the problem of diagnosis of neurological disorders in children with congenital heart disease, due to anatomical and physiological characteristics of the child, as well as the severity of the general condition, as the neurological symptoms are often masked the symptoms of the underlying disease of the central nervous system. Timely diagnosis related neurological disorders in children in this category is also necessary for the proper conduct of preoperative preparation, adequate surgery, as well as a choice of tactics of treatment in the postoperative period.
