Abstract

Evidence suggests that some forms of schizophrenia are disorders of neurodevelopment. Neuroimaging studies indicate that structural abnormalities are similar between children and first-episode adults with schizophrenia. These structural abnormalities are consistent with those seen in neuropathologic studies. The potential contribution of neuroimaging studies to understanding the neuro-developmental basis of schizophrenia is discussed.
