Abstract
Neuron degeneration and death at the focus of hyper-excitation are among the commonest morphological conse-quences of chronic convulsive activity, both clinically andin experimental studies. Chronic convulsive activity is mod-eled using the phenomenon of kindling, whereby an initial-ly normal neural network, influenced by repeated sub-threshold convulsive stimuli, undergoes reorganization suchthat it acquires increased convulsive readiness. One of themost frequently used convulsants in developing kindling isthe GABA
