Abstract

Bathynerilta marina gen. et sp.n., Bathychaetus heptapous gen. et sp.n. (both off the east coast of Scotland), and Afronerilla hartwigi gen. et sp.n. (off the coast of Mauretania) are described; all from the sublittoral. The main features of Bathynerilla marina are: 8 segments with capillary setae; parapodial cirri on each segment; without anal cirri. The features of Afronerilla hartwigi are: 8 segments with capillary setae; without palps, tentacles, and anal cirri; the parapodial cirri on segment 1 and 8 are absent. The main features of Bathychaetus heptapous are: a pharyngeal bulb with a pair of cuticulary jaw‐like structures; 7 segments with capillary setae; parapodial cirri on each segment present; without tentacles.
