Abstract

AbstractA study was conducted to determine the feasibility of networking 28 homes with a university mainframe system in order to investigate a new family process research paradigm and the design and function of the microcomputer/mainframe system. Data concerning a microcomputer/mainframe system are reported in this study. Results showed that family participants demonstrated few impediments to comprehensive system use, operated at a better than 90% efficiency rate with research information exchanging, and collectively provided evidence that the designed system was a good beginning of a border zone network. This study was designed as a first empirical initiative which fits a suggested proximate-border zone-distant educational model.
