Abstract

The aim of this paper was to develop an electricity network model for the Central Eastern European Region and harmonize its operation with an economic power market model for the same region. Our network model is based on the publicly available ENTSO-E Common Grid Model (CGM), however, several upgrades were made with respect to lines, transformers, and various technical parameters. These were examined through direct current (DC) load-flow calculations performed with MATLAB Matpower [1]. To generate consumption and generation data, we used the European Electricity Market Model (EEMM) developed by REKK independently from the network model. The DC load-flow estimations showed that our upgraded network model produced a more accurate representation of electricity system operation than the original CGM in terms of overloaded branches and highest relative loads on a line. However, these results were not satisfactory, when input data from the EEMM model were used. This means that further development of our framework is needed.
