The term “smart cities” has become the title of dialogues in academic conferences and speeches. Smart cities bring together traditional networks and services and make them more flexible, efficient and sustainable while using information, digital, communications, and modern technologies to improve their operations for the benefit of their citizens and residents. Smart cities are greener, safer, faster and more friendly. Smart cities unify several fields and modern technologies used, for example, the communication network, the Internet of things and virtual reality. Fifth-generation cities and networks: A newer generation of networks is essential for the development of digital ecosystems for smart cities. Although the development of smart cities and research in communication networks and modern technologies in them are continuing to improve them and make them more flexible, some challenges and problems are facing modern network connectivity. In these papers, we will discuss smart cities, the current technologies used in them, and review some of the difficulties and challenges faced, in addition to some suggested solutions and ideas for creating smarter cities and upgrade life in it.
