Abstract

Off the southern coast of tasmania, Australia, lies a small island community and tourist hot spot called Bruny Island, known for its beautiful white sandy beaches, rugged coastline, and delicious produce (Figure 1). Just as the island population rises and falls with the holiday peaks, so, too, does the load on the undersea electricity cable connecting the island to mainland Tasmania, pushing the aging cable to its limits.
