NET SIFIR EMİSYON POLİTİKALARI VE YEŞİL MUTABAKATA UYUM

Abstract

"The increase in the concentration of greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere since the industrial revolution has caused the temperature of the earth to increase by 1,1°C. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 1992, the Kyoto Protocol in 1997, and the Paris Agreement in 2015 were adopted in order to collectively combat this phenomenon which is called climate change. The Paris Agreement set the target to limit global warming to below 2°C and to pursue efforts to limit it to 1,5°C. It has been stated that countries should reach net zero emissions by the middle of this century in order to be realized these targets. Having regarded it a duty to be a global leader in the fight against climate change, the European Union announced the European Green Deal in 2019 and declared that it aims to be the first continent to reach net zero emissions by 2050. With its elements, the EU Green Deal has a global impact and it is expected to have an effect on Türkiye’s foreign trade. In parallel with these developments, in 2021, Türkiye announced its 2053 net-zero emission target and became a party to the Paris Agreement. In this study; net zero emission policies were discussed while addressing the current situation in climate change and greenhouse gas emissions; the possible effects of the policies of the European Green Deal on Türkiye have been evaluated and, Policy recommendations have been developed for Türkiye in order to achieve its net zero emissions target and to comply with the European Green Deal."
