Abstract
Throughfall averaged 80% of gross summer precipitation both under a natural hardwood stand and under a red pine plantation in central Pennsylvania. Stemflow averaged 2% of gross precipitation in the hardwoods and 1% in the pine. Linear regressions relating net precipitation (Pn) to gross precipitation (Pg) were Pn = 0.907 Pg − 0.046 for the hardwoods, and Pn = 0.905 Pg − 0.045 for the pine.
