Abstract

White-tipped dove (Leptotila verreauxi) nesting success was studied in south Texas during June- August 1980 and March-September 1981. The probability of an egg surviving from the beginning of incubation to fledging was 0.53 for both years. Often 1 egg was lost, but not the whole nest, during incubation. However, during the nestling period, any losses were usually of the whole nest. Nests were found in 11 plant species. Causes of nest failure could not be reliably established.
