Abstract

A survey and a comparative morphological analysis of Neotropical Pseudachorutinae have been performed as a first effort seeking out a deeper knowledge of this fauna. Special emphasis was devoted to endemic genera. A list of Neotropical Pseudachorutinae species is provided, pointing out those that demand redescription and most possibly a new genus assignment. The distribution of endemic Neotropical genera and their trend relative to biogeographical regions and subregions are also discussed. Antennal, head, thorax and tibiotarsal chaetotaxy of endemic Neotropical genera of Pseudachorutinae are analyzed searching for a pattern. It is also provided the description of Notachorudina rapoporti sp. nov., the redescription of Halachorutes schusteri Arlé, 1966 and the new combination of Pseudachorutes quadrisetosus Snider, 1981 as Halachorutes quadrisetosus (Snider, 1981) comb. nov. Further comments and remarks concerning genera probably related to Notachorudina and Halachorutes are also made.
