Abstract
The report on neonatal suppurative parotitis by Leake and Leake (Pediatrics, 46:203, 1970) is an interesting one. May I take the liberty of adding some opinions based on experiences at the New York Polyclinic Hospital where I was active on the newborn service from 1925 to 1959. This condition is much more common than the above authors would lead us to believe. I followed over a dozen cases. All were premature infants and all recovered. Before the advent of antibiotics, the prognosis was guarded.
