Abstract

It is essential for radiologists to possess a clear understanding of the spectrum of neonatal bowel emergencies and recognize the vital role that imaging plays in evaluating and diagnosing these emergent conditions. This article aims to: 1) review currently available imaging modalities for evaluating neonatal bowel emergencies; 2) discuss the spectrum of neonatal bowel emergencies; 3) describe a practical imaging approach to neonatal bowel emergencies; and 4) present clinically relevant examples of neonatal bowel emergencies, emphasizing characteristic imaging appearances. The overarching goal is to assist practicing radiologists and clinical physicians in making accurate diagnoses and providing optimal patient care.
