Abstract

Purpose: Airway pressure release ventilation (APRV) is a relatively new mode of ventilation in neonates, that is able to achieve high mean airway pressures (MPaw) with lower peak pressures as compared to conventional synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation (SIMV). It has also been associated with a favorable hemodynamic profile and improved patient comfort.
