Abstract
The neoliberal turn in health care delivery services in India from early 80s explains the systematic failures in the Indian health system. The present paper intends to highlight the neoliberal policies and their subsequent impact on the private health care sector which has been corporatized significantly over the years. A shift to surplus extraction without welfare, strengthening public and private sector links and subsidizing the private sector, and commoditizing health characterized the neoliberal model for health care in the Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization phase in India. Neoliberal turn was also reflected in the health care plans and policies which also echoed that successive governments in India have not paid serious attention to the health issues of the vast population.
