The article criticizes the position of neoliberal ideology, according to which every person in a market society has an equal chance of success. Various factors neutralizing the validity of this thesis are considered. Depending on the economic, social and cultural capital of the family, a person has chances for vertical mobility. We are talking about inequality both at the microsocial level and at the international level. Free competition is presented as an unattainable ideal.
