Abstract

The genus Neoharriotta has been known from only a single species (pinnata Schnakenbeck) on the west African Slope. A new species, Neoharriotta carri, from the southwestern Caribbean Sea is described, differing in smaller size of adults and egg capsules, by having proportionately longer snout, pectorals, and eyes; shorter dorsal and anal fins; fin positions; profile of snout; angular (maxillary) mucous canal loop pattern; and denticulations on juveniles. A key to the Atlantic Rhinochimaeridae is presented.
