Abstract

Ascomata of three species of coronophoraceous fungi collected from the Big Thicket National Preserve and an area immediately adjacent to the preserve were examined with a scanning electron microscope to reveal the distinctive features of the ascomatal surface. Based on the results of the examination, two new species (Neochaetosphaerella thaxteriospora and Tympanopsis texensis) are herein described and discussed. Both a description and an illustration of Scortechinia acanthostroma are also provided.
