Abstract

Nematicidal activity of the essential oils of three Cymbopogon grasses (C. martini var. motia, C. flexuosus and C. winterianus) and their major constituents, geraniol, citral, citronellol and citronellal was determined with second stage juveniles of four nematodes, seed-gall nematode (Anguina tritici), citrus nematode (Tylenchulus semipenetrans), root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne javanica) and cereal cyst-nematode (Heterodera avenae). The essential oils and their constituents were found to be nematicidal and their activities correlated with chemical constitution.
