Abstract

Detailed knowledge of various couplings present in magnetic thin film systems could contribute to a better predictability of devices. In ferromagnetic multilayers with a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, a correlated waviness can lead to antiferromagetic coupling between adja-cent layers (Néel's coupling). We show, using micromagnetic simulations, that the coupling energy depends strongly on layers separation and on details of interface profiles. We show, too, that the coupling is slightly field dependent.
