Abstract

First appearing in 1903, the Manual of library economy has been with us for seventy‐five years. Like any other septuagenarian, it has witnessed many changes during its life. Each successive edition has attempted to update and make relevant the content of the book to the most recent contemporary developments and conjectured future trends in practical librarianship.
