Abstract

We report a case of endogenous endophthalmitis in which the suspected etiology, Neisseria meningitidis, was supported by use of a specific polymerase chain reaction test on vitreous humor. This technology may be especially valuable in the future for those cases in which systemic and eye cultures are nonrevealing.
