Abstract

36-year old female underwent elective parathyroidectomy at a Swiss tertiary teaching hospital for primary hyperparathyroid-ism. Induction, surgery and extubation were uneventful. During transfer to the post-anaesthetic care unit, some retching was interpreted as vomiting. At arrival, she was apnoeic and unresponsive but with palpable pulse.
