Abstract

The cross-correlation functions (CCFs) of the field emission flicker noise (FEFN) for the same probed region positions on the W(110) plane covered with potassium were determined in the temperature range of about 80–200 K. The most striking results are strong position dependence of the CCFs and the exclusively negative correlation at about the liquid nitrogen temperature. For a qualitative explanation of these observations, soliton or domain wall movements in potassium submonolayers are taken into account.
