Abstract

In order to find the best way to reform medical English teaching, the authors carried out a questionnaire investigation in 714 clinical medicine-major undergraduates on their needs of medical English learning. The needs analysis shows that these clinical medicine college students have a clear purpose for medical English learning but are weakly motivated for medical English learning; they have a stronger need to improve their reading, listening, speaking, and writing ability in medical English but a weaker one for translation. They have also shown preferences for different aspects in the teaching set-up of the medical English course.
