Abstract
This paper meticulously analyses the significant need for media law education in India considering the national diversity and current trend of mediascape in the country. Presently, because of the advancement of novel media technology application and the Internet, the number of media consumers is very high and is rapidly increasing. In reality, media is pervasive and covers all societal activities and human relationships. In addition, it is accessed by people in every walk of life, irrespective of their gender, age, caste, religion, community, location, and profession. Therefore, it is imperative for the government, educators, and parents to seriously consider imparting media law and ethics education to maintain the standard and quality of media content, thereby maintaining healthy human relationships in society. This study analyses the report of the Indian and media entertainment industry (2016) and the reports published by different governmental organisations, such as the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India; Registrar for Newspapers; Telecom Regulatory Authority of India; Internet and Mobile Association of India; and Indian Market Research Bureau.
