Abstract

Physics learning aims to equip students with knowledge and ability to develop natural sciences. Very minimal learning resources become a problem in the learning process. Monotonous learning and the less effective learning model are factors of student saturation. The project based learning (PJBL) is one of the models used in making projects. The use of the PJBL in learning can increase student activity and creativity. In assessing project processes and outcomes in learning, an authentic and thorough assessment is required. This study aims to analyze the need for the PJBL model and portfolio assessment. The research method used is descriptive. The sample of this research is SMA/MAN teachers in 5 schools in Padang Pariaman. PJBL is very rarely used in learning because this learning model has its own difficulties in its implementation. The PJBL had a major impact in 3 schools, namely SMAN 12 x 11 Lingkung, MAN 1 Padang Pariaman, and SMAN 1 Lubuk Alung, with average scores above 60. Portfolio assessment has a great impact because it can facilitate students and teachers in the learning process. Results of this study are the teacher expects the ease of using the PJBL with the portfolio assessment of physics learning.
