Abstract

Introduction: Necrotizing fasciitis represent rapidly progressive diseases characterized by extensive necrosis and gas formation in the subcutaneous tissue and a high mortality rate. Patients need early identification and an adequate treatment including aggressive and repeated debridement, broad-spectrum intravenous antibiotics and intensive care management. In this article, an early diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment of necrotizing fasciitis are reviewed.
