Abstract
A patient with necrosis of the entire stomach secondary to ingestion of an acid corrosive agent is presented. An emergency total gastrectomy was performed successfully on the fourteenth postingestion day for gastric rupture. The postoperative course was complicated by hypoalbuminemia and an esophagojejunal fistula, both of which responded to supportive measures. The patient subsequently convalesced uneventfully and was discharged in good condition fifty-five days after operation.
