Abstract

In Bangladesh, English language learning and teaching have always been facing obstacles to bring out positive and effective results. To make a progressing change, recently our education system has adopted the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach in the field of English Language Teaching (ELT) terminating the years-long practice of the traditional Grammar Translation Method (GTM). But unfortunately, the CLT approach has also been proved to have disastrous effect in the outcome of ELT in Bangladesh. Considering all these issues, the present study attempts to find out whether there exists any necessity to make any change in the existing CLT approach, and if any, what might be the probable changes to be brought for the betterment of our ELT environment.
