Abstract
AbstractFoam sclerotherapy is an efficient and safe therapy for varicose veins. Only Polidocanol is used as a sclerosing agent in Germany. Sclerotherapy can be applied to every form of varicose vein with adjusted concentrations of sclerosing agent. Side effects may occur, as with any form of therapy, and range from postinflammatory hyperpigmentation to deep vein thrombosis, but in general serious side effects are rare. This article aims to further illustrate the side effects and to provide practical advice for sclerotherapy beginners.
