Abstract
In 2005, the General Dental Council (GDC) introduced ‘Developing the Dental Team’. This document set out the standards required for the recognition and endorsement of any future qualifications by the GDC for dental care professionals (DCPs), including dental nurses. It indicated the need for the introduction of an element of work-based continual assessment into the current National Certificate for dental nurses, run by the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN).
