Abstract
Near-total laryngectomy (NTL) provides a func-tional alternative to total laryngectomy (TL) in T3-T4laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancer. It was initiallyadvocated in extended glottic carcinoma and in hypo-pharyngeal carcinoma. More recently, the utility ofPearson’s NTL for supraglottic, pharyngeal, and base oftongue cancer has been reported.
