Abstract

A 61-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with hypovolumic shock and melana. Four years previously, she had been diagnosed with stage I gallbladder adenocarcinoma treated by laparoscopic cholecystectomy. On admission, upper endoscopy revealed an ulcerated, protruding mass with oozing of fresh blood at the second portion of duodenum (Fig. 1). Imaging studies including contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan of the abdomen were inconclusive. Endoscopic haemostatic procedures with aggressive blood transfusion achieved rapid restoration of haemodynamics.
