Abstract
In this contribution, we present light emitting diode (LED) with Fresnel structure implemented in the LED surface. Fresnel structure in one-dimensional arrangement consisting of lines unequally distributed with square root of distance were etched directly in the LED emitting surface using electron beam lithography with the etched depth app. 400 nm. The Fresnel LED was studied in near-and far-field measurements. Near-field measurements of the structure show enhanced emission from patterned lines in comparison with the unpatterned surface. This local enhancement contributes to the effect of the Fresnel structure on the overall intensity and it causes far-field broadening for great angles. The asymmetric intensity profile is documented by goniophotometer measurements and it is in well agreement with the simulation.
