Abstract

Barbiturates are probably still the most commonly used of any drugs in the symptomatic treatment of anxious patients. Their hypnotic effect is a nuisance in daytime and the advantage claimed by the manufacturer for nealbarbitone (5-allyl-5-neopentylbarbituric acid; Censedal - M & B), that it is a useful daytime sedative which seldom produces drowsiness in therapeutic doses, is worth attention.
