Abstract

The present work reports the procedure used for the production and characterization of Nb–Ti superconductor wires with Cu as artificial pinning centers (APC) for two different pin geometries: island and barrier. Cold swaging, bundling, drawing processing in addition to controlled heat treatments were used to reduce the pinning centers size. Superconducting properties characterization was made by means of transport and magnetization measurements. We obtained J c values at 4.2 K of 124 A/mm 2 (island) and 101 A/mm 2 (barrier) at 5 T.
