Abstract
We have attempted to make a single phase target of Nb 3Al by melt and cast process. X-ray diffraction spectrum analysis of the target shows A-15 single phase material. A small piece of this target material shows the superconductivity below about 18 K. Thin Nb 3Al films on MgO and Al 2O 3 single crystal (sapphire) substrate were made using RF magnetron sputtering technique with this target. After heat treatment at 1137 K for 1 h one of the thin films on Al 2O 3 substrate shows superconductivity below about 13.8 K.
