Abstract

Ouren, T. 1973. Names on Topographical Maps as an Aid in Finding New Localities for Plant Species. Norsk geogr. Tidsskr. 27, 47–50. Place names on maps only rarely give information of significance about plant localities. The bog myrtle (Myrica gale L.), however, was of considerable economic value in Norway in former days, and several place names deduced from the name of this plant indicate new localities in the marginal distribution area of the bog myrtle.
