Abstract

Education is a process by which the individual has acquired rights with the aim of becoming a citizen, which is an achievement resulting from the political exercise of rights and struggles. The twentieth century was marked by an accelerated development of electronic technology. This technological advance caused some initial discomfort, given the natural resistance and non-adherence to major changes, especially in the educational field. Such advances led us to analyze information and communication technologies (ICT) in education in a public school in Bahia. It was a bibliographic and field study using different sources for analysis. It was found that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) enable students to have direct contact with globalization. Its inclusion in schools allows mastering the use of information technology, not only in the educational field, but also in the sense of training for the job market, enabling it to be competitive, with social responsibility and citizenship. It can also be used as a methodological resource, enabling the teacher to use it as a new tool in the teaching-learning process.
