Abstract

It was interesting to read in the BJN the publicity given to a book published in 1856 about the nurses and nursing during the Crimean War. It was called ‘Eastern Hospitals and English Nurses, the Narrative of Twelve Months’ Experience in the Hospitals of Koulali and Scutari, by a Lady Volunteer’. This was not about the Nightingale nurses but referred to other trained and ‘hired’ nurses who went out there at the time. The following are some extracts from the BJN of May 11th 1907.
